Deva Kaur Khalsa VMD: Dr. Deva earned her degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. From her earliest years as a veterinarian, Dr. Deva trained in homeopathy, along with many other holistic modalities, and soon began developing her own treatment protocols drawing from her rapidly growing knowledge base. Since beginning her holistically oriented veterinary practice over 25 years ago, Dr. Deva has been incorporating homeopathy, acupuncture, Chinese herbs, nutritional advice, and allergy-elimination techniques. I don't know if you've ever noticed this but I've found very few books that talk about holistic solutions for cats with itchy skin and GI problems. My cat Tiggy had IBD and also pulled out clumps of hair at times....the hair ripping was seasonal. It was always one thing or the other. This book taught me how her food sensitivities came about and the solutions were explained in a way that made total sense to me. I got the allergy treatment that Dr. Khalsa talked about in her book and treated Tiggy with the numbered vials at home. After 5 years of nothing working, I figured out why! Tiggy doesn't have diarrhea any more....well, maybe once a month (it was every day before and I can sure deal with one a month) and she doesn't rip out her fur anymore. I am so glad I found this book. It saved Tiggy! I highly recommend it.
The book has everything you need to know about pet allergies. Easy to read, well illustrated. Excellent info on diet for allergic pets. Nothing in the past has worked on our cat Lilly. The vet said she had to be on a certain toxic medication for the rest of her life. But I would not subject Lilly to that. I am fairly suspicious of conventional medicine, both for humans and animals.In Dr Khalsa's book I found workable diets, that I immediately tried on Lilly. Within a few days she is already better.
I bought this book to help with my pets allergies.. .Dr. Deva Khalsa’ s innovated approach is to help you understand why your pet has allergies, This book will help you change the way you feed your pet and that kibble is not the best. Dr Khalsa has given us some very good recipes to choose from...Most vets do not realize allergies can stem from vaccines and this is something Dr. Khalsa understands. She thinks outside the box.. This book will help guide owners to decide the best way to approach their dogs allergies. I know I wouldn’t be without it.

This book was very informative and a wonderful alternative to conventional veterinary medicine. Our cat Precious is very important to us and so we try to give her holistic treatments. Dr. Khalsa works with the whole pet and doesn't just recommend symptom treatments or toxic drugs that could cause organ damage or shorten the pet's life expectancy. So many pets get cancer, that we trust holistic treatments and a a natural diet. We also highly reccommend Dr. Khalsa' Vital Vities! Precious' health has been great since we started mixing them in her food.
I am experienced in the treatment of allergy in human beings. Often vets are on the cutting edge because they can use natural treatments more easily than medical doctors or other health care practitioners treating human beings. It is clear that Dr Khalsa has done her homework. This book is crystal clear, easy to use and most importantly these natural solutions are the solutions. Dr Khalsa knows how to diagnose. She is not distracted by symptoms this is why her treatments work. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to avoid the medicine cabinet and wants a real solution for their dog or cat.
