I studied this book daily, lots of good material in the book but when I took the civil service test none of the material referenced in the book appeared in the exam, the material in the book was good but nothing close to this material appeared in the civil service exam I was really disappointed because I really needed this job after months of studying this book I didn't score high enough on the test. :-(

We are big fans of Roald Dahl here.For anyone who doesn't know, Roald Dahl wrote in a time when children's stories were much darker and usually had a moral to them. Just be aware of that if you are not familiar with Dahl's work. Personally, it doesn't bother myself or my kids.This set contains Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (on one disc), James and the Giant Peach (one disc), Fantastic Mr Fox (one disc) and on the last disc, The Enormous Crocodile and The Magic Finger.The stories are read by Roald himself, which I thought was an added bonus. His voice is clear and easy to understand.This is definitely worth the purchase and I will probably buy it again when ours wears out because it is listened to so often.

I bought these because my brother and I listened to them at night as we fell asleep when we were kids and I wanted our daughters (6 & 8) to experience using their imaginations as they sized off. To my delight the James and the Giant Peach is the same exact one we listened to as kids same narrator and everything I felt like I was 5 years old again (I'm 38). These are a great alternative to watching TV turn them on while your kid plays and watch as they stop playing and listen to the stories as they imagine each character in their mind!

Got these to practice our listening skills during the summer months in the car. At first thought I'd had too high an expectation, but then the kids (ages 6 to 3) started asking for them by various names...and they promote moral discussions (during which I power off the whole system so all can hear what's said). :) The readers voice is a soothing English accented fellow whose diction is lovely and understandable even when the words are 'odd' to little ones American ears.

I LOVE this story teller. The grandkids enjoy each of the stories told, but as an adult who loves children's books, I fully appreciate the talent of Roald Dahl. His ability to infuse personality into the various characters and "retort" (as only Roald Dahl can retort) add both life and humor to his stories. As the imagination comes alive and the listener is swept away with the story, one forgets for just a moment that one is only seeing with the mind and not the eyes. Gifted is the word for Mr. Dahl.

These are abridged versions of the books

I loved Roald Dahl books when I was a kid and wanted to start introducing my own kids to them. We spend a lot of time in the car, so this was a great way to do it. I jumped at the chance to buy this set because, not only does it include 5 stories which is a great bargain, but it was read by the author himself! Since I had never heard his voice before, I thought this would be really interesting and make the set more special in a way. I was not disappointed! I love hearing these stories in Dahl's own voice. My children do too. They are 7, 5, and 3 years old. We have listened to the CDs over and over again. I think Dahl does an excellent job with his readings. I don't find it confusing which story is on which CD although they are not labeled. 1--Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, 2--James and the Giant Peach, 3--Fantastic Mr. Fox, 4--The Enormous Crocodile and The Magic Finger. I believe there is about 5 hours of recording between all the CDs. I only wish the entire stories of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach were included instead of the abridged versions. I just can't get enough! Highly recommended!

I wish there were more stories here, but it does include some of the most popular stores. It would be nice if the CDs were actually labeled to show which stories are on which CD.

My kids love listening to these audio stories. I love that they are read by Roald Dahl it makes it that much more enjoyable. Great for a long car ride.

Those of us interested in leadership, learning, and human behavior have experienced a surge of interest and research around personality preferences and differences in recent times. A number of accomplished authors have written on the subject, with sharp focus on demolishing the myth that leaders are extroverts. Jennifer Kahnweiler is the latest and one of the most powerful voices reminding us that "different" does not equal "less than" or "better than", but that when we embrace, respect, and accept our differences, everyone can win for having done so.The gist of this book is that both introverts and extroverts contribute value and inclusion beats working against each other. Neither style is exclusively better or worse for business, collaboration, or leadership, and each offers strengths and weaknesses, as does our attempts to play nice together, when we have different comfort zones. Chapter 8 is particularly useful, with solid reasons why collaborating across styles is good for business and a list of things to watch out for.I always look at the index of a book first and I loved what I saw in the index for this book. Along with the expected personality-related concepts and terms are dozens of names and titles, reflecting the eclectic nature of her approach. In my opinion, this makes the book stronger ... when you go from Teddy Roosevelt to "I Love Lucy", Victor Borge, and Gracie Allen, with stops at Franklin and Eleanor, Paul McCartney, both Siskel and Ebert, and end up with Sheryl Sandberg, Susan Cain, and Mark Zuckerberg, to name just a very few, you have done some homework.

This book should come with every college diploma, marriage certificate and job offer because it shows you how to work with partners who are very different than you. Jennifer Kahnweiler has distilled the keys of successful introvert-extrovert duos into this quick and helpful guide. Her five-step formula is easy to apply, and her quiz will help you assess your partnership. It’s filled with tips and thoughtful questions in every chapter. Imagine the problems and misunderstandings you’ll avoid if you share this book with your work colleagues. I can see "The Kahnweiler Method" becoming part of every organization's talent development program.

I bought this book to help me better understand personal relationships. “Extraordinary results” feels subjective to me so I didn’t realize this was meant for the workplace only. You can have positive results as a couple. The information on the content of this book cited Eleanor and FDR as an example. I thought of their partnership as a marriage, not co-eds. Fortunately it still translates for tips on how to better understand friends and partners outside of the workplace. I still really enjoyed the book.

This is a great book to help you understand why maybe you and your teammates, or you and your customers, aren't getting along, aren't collaborating! Instead of saying, "it must be them, it certainly is not me!", Jennifer's The Genius of Opposites gives you great assessment tools and examples of how teams and sales/customers can understand each other better, agree to disagree, and focus on what the desired outcome. The real world examples of famous teams who were opposites provides great proof that opposites can make beautiful music together, can create powerful companies together, and can create great art together! As a leadership coach for 12 years, meeting Jennifer about 18 months ago and then exploring her work ( and the work of others such as Susan Cain), has been a really exciting "breakthrough moment" for me as a coach.It was a breakthrough because I am now able to support my clients to give themselves permission to be an introverted (Quiet) leader with many wonderful strengths, and the capacity to grow even more as a leader.But then the coaching space has all too often included working on how to thrive in a world often dominated by extroverts, many of whom are bosses or colleagues.In her usual terrific approach of research grounded in practical experience Jernifer has shown us that it can be as simple as "ABCDE" for both introverts and introverts who are willing to work at it. I'm an extrovert. And for years, I was one of those uninformed, talkative folks who thought that introverts were just shy or lacked confidence. Dr. Kahnweiler's work changed that for me, and her latest book is the best example I've seen of looking honestly at both personality types and recognizing that there are assets in each to create true workplace success.
