this book covers the entire game of golf: from the full swing to putting. From the sand shot to finesse shots. What makes this book different is that it stresses the fundamentals (and explains them) in a non-technical way. He has four fundamentals: grip, set-up, use of the left arm and use of the legs. Easy to comprehend and the emphasis is on feel rather than binding the golfer in mind boggling minutiae. Highly recommend especially to those who have paralysis by analysis.

Al Geiberger is almost as famous for being the SyberVision model as he is for shooting a 59. This book is a wonderful summary of the swing and provides keys to playing better. It is should even be better as a companion to the SyberVision video that stars Geiberger. The video sold over 1 million copies in the 1980's and became the rage of golf all over the world. I just purchased the re-release of the video on DVD from SyberVision at [...] Hopefully, it and the book will work for me as well as it has reportedly done for others.

Most of my searching for golf help is looking for ways to focus on tempo and timing. This book was very helpful in its isolation of just the few keys that Gieberger uses in his swing. His swing keys on the left arm and leg swing. Gieberger must be a man of few words. The book doesn't fill up with tips unrelated to the subject of tempo. He has a cool video too, just his swinging set to music - no words at all. His swing is old-school, a lot like Nicklaus'with the raised left heel. It's a good book!

I read this book almost cover to cover in one evening. Mr. Geibergers' technique is simple, easy to understand and to copy. I have learn more by reading this book than any other book I read. I strongly believe that this book is a must to any golfer looking to improve his swing.

The Wei-Chuan Publishing Company (apparently connected with the Taiwanese Wei-Chuan Cooking School), has produced a good number of Cookbooks, mostly dealing with Chinese cookery but also coveing other Asian cuisines as well. I own over a dozen of these now and I like all of them. More importantly, I like all of these books for tmuch he same reasons and, accordingly, I have decided to do a general review that applies to each of them and then provide a few individualized comments where appropriate.Basically, the Wei-Chuan publications are authored/editored by several different persons but the format is largely the same. Each book is divided into logical sections (Meats, Vegetables, Appetizers, etc.) and nearly every recipe is accompanied by a good photograph of the result with some recipes having additional pictures of the preparation as well. This feature alone makes these books well worth the purchase. Another feature of this cuilinary series is that the books are written in China and, at least as far as the books on Chinese cuisine is concerned, the reader need have no issues with 'authenticity'. I personally also like the fact that all of the books are written in Chinese characters and then translated into English. This has has an added bonus of occasionally providing some unintentional amusement due to a particularly 'unfortunate' translation but I specially like it as I am teaching myself Mandarin and these books are excellent learning tools. I often take one on the plane with me when I travel (along with dictionaries) and can spend hours happily translating passages. It is amazing how often the actual translation of a recipe title bears little resemblance to the English title provided.Finally, I have to say that the recipes in all of these books are interesting and he ones that I have tried to reproduce have worked out well. Mainly though, I just like reading through these books for inspiration and enjoyment. The money I have spent has been repaid many times over.The We-Chuan books I currently own are as follows:Chinese Cuisine - Very good introductory section. Recipes range from simple everyday dishes to exotic banquet style delicacies.Chinese Dim Sum: Wel-Chuan Cultural and Educational Foundation - Great 'step-by-step' pictures for many recipes. Bit too much emphasis on sweet rather than savoury for my personal taste.Chinese Snacks - More of the same as in the Dim Sum book. No 'step-by-step' pictures but I actually like this book better.Chinese Appetizers and Garnishes - I haven't attempted much from this book but I am thankful for the great 'step-by-step' pictures provided.Favorite Home Dishes Chinese Cooking - As the name suggests, most of the recipes are simple and, thus, easy to prepare.Chinese Cuisine Beijing Style - Lots of Imperial Banquet dishes and many exotic foreign influenced meals that have been 'Chinesified'.Chinese Cuisine: Cantonese Style - 75 Cantonese recipes. Good recipes with nice pictures but a sparse introduction.Chinese Cuisine Shanghai Style - Typically good Wei-Chuan quality but probably my least favorite of the 'regional' Chinese cookbooks.Chinese Cuisine-Taiwanese Style - Excellent Book. Some truly unique recipes I have never seen elsewhere. I love to browse this volume.Chinese Cuisine: Szechuan Style - I love Szechuan food especially but I would still treat this book as a favorite anyway.Indian Cuisine - A nice book but be aware that the recipes Indian dishes for the Chinese palate, not Indian.Vietnamese Cuisine - Great recipes.Japanese Cuisine - Nearly as good as many books I have that are written by Japanese chefs.Korean Cuisine - My favorite of the We-Chuan non-Chinese cookbooks so far,Singaporean, Malaysian & Indonesian Cuisine - My least favorite Wei-Chuan book so far. Somewhat interesting but I don't look at it much.Finally, I have a new Wei-Chuan book on order and will continue to buy from time to time. I will review separately as I read these new books.

This book is seriously helpful. One of 3 Cookbooks I consider necessary in my kitchen.

Having been born and raised in Shanghai I remember the wonderful dishes we used to eat which are not available in most Chinese restaurants not specializing in Shanghai food. What a pleasure it was to see and use a cookbook of Shanghai food, containing a good sampling of the cuisine, and authentic to boot.

A few annoying grammatical issues and a small amount of redundancy aside, his short book is well worth a read--and then a second read--for any iOS developer going through interviews or just wanting to stay sharp. This was one of many resources I studied before my own interviews. I didn't necessarily get asked these particular questions but having gone through the book gave me confidence that I'd considered most or all of the significant areas an iOS developer needs to understand. The questions and answers are a mix of Objective-C and Swift. And yes, I got the job :)

John Finnis is one of the school of 'New Natural Lawyers', along with thinkers such as Robert P. George, German Gricez, and others. Natural law was relatively neglected in the 19th and 20th centuries, replaced largely with positivist theories based on the natural sciences that divorced law completely from any 'emotive' issues like ethics and morality.This changed with the revival of natural law theory, particularly in the 1980's. Although natural law has its roots in Greek and Roman philosophical thought, the idea was incorporated into Christian theology. Its most famous exponent was the Dominican scholar St Thomas Aquinas, who dedicated a fair portion of his first Summa to natural law.The natural law has often been used by the Catholic Church to articulate and defend its teachings on moral issues, from giving workers the right to a fair wage and private property to the ban on artificial contraception. Violating these norms breaches the plan of the creator, hence the natural law provides a framework in which to judge moral actions in an evaluative manner.Unfortunately natural law theory has many weaknesses, and the main one with the Catholic version is its inherent sectarianism. Why should a rational person for example, choose Catholic natural law instead of Islamic shariah or the law of an Aboriginal tribe? Aren't all equally 'natural?' How can we tell which one is better? The appeal to God inherent to Catholic natural law thinking will also be repellent to atheists and agnostics, who are by no means a small number in contemporary society.Although he is a devout and conservative Roman Catholic (and admits it), Finnis admirably tries to establish a non-sectarian theory of natural law than can be used by an intelligent person as the basis for jurisprudence. Finnis does this by constructing his theory around seven 'basic goods' which every person of goodwill can recognise, including friendship, the right to life, and so on. Finnis goes into considerable detail and does his best to argue his theory without resorting to purely religious or polemical arguments derived mindlessly from church documents, a mistake many lesser thinkers than Finnis engage in.Depending on your sympathies, Finnis's theory fortunately (or unfortunately) produces conclusions remarkably similar to the official teachings of the Catholic church, whether in sexual morality or on economic issues. This is where Finnis runs into trouble, and this is a problem that occurs in many of his papers and books - he claims to be establishing a rational theory of morality, law and political order that can appeal generally to all, whether or not they have religious beliefs, but all too often Finnis falls into the vicious circle of assuming the truth of what he sets to prove - in other words, a purely secular and rational theory of natural law should lead to exactly the same conclusions as those of the Catholic church, and very conservative ones at that (i.e. contraception is never permissible, homosexuality is always wrong, abortion is always wrong, etc). One can't but help feel Finnis in the end is selling himself simply to be an apologist for the Catholic Church, even for some of the more questionable views like the very negative ones about homosexuality. This impression is reinforced when one reads the collection of papers and addresses (many of which were previously unpublished) by Finnis that were recently released which clearly show his very conservative 'traditionalist' Catholic views on various issues, including the neuralgic ones of the 'culture' wars. Astute critics of Finnis like Nicholas Bamforth have rightly picked this up and showed this glaring flaw in Finnis's work.Even so, Finnis deserves credit for producing a fine work of legal philosophy. He is clearly a thinker of first rank and deserves to be taken seriously. Natural law and natural rights is arguably the best restatement of natural law theory in the contemporary setting and well worth considering carefully.

The first 200 pages of 'Natural Law & Natural Rights' is impressive, insightful and compelling. However, the last 210 pages amounts to a long and tedious venture. Finnis can write beautifully at times and convey his argument with artistry and cleverness. The justification for this restriction lies in the "incommensurability" of multiple human goods: because goods cannot be commensurated, it is never rational to say that acting against a certain basic good is justified by the overall "better" effect of doing so. This moral principle supplies a justification for certain specific political rights (e.g., the right of innocents not be killed) and so for certain (not all) rights protected in e.g., in the American Bill of Rights.Finnis's political philosophy is based on the necessity of political communities for the realization of certain kinds of human good, which in turn is the basis for the justification of political authority and of law in particular.The foregoing is a very brief and selective sketch of a theory that Finnis develops in great detail over the course of the book's ten central chapters. Although much of Finnis's theory is necessarily controversial--especially his account of the incommensurability of goods--the book offers a subtle, rich, and I think largely compelling alternative to purely consequentialist and purely deontological theories of law and political morality. Finnis's work clearly comes out of a specifically Catholic intellectual tradition, but I think this book can be profitably read by a much wider audience. Finnis never relies on specifically Catholic (or Christian, or religious) doctrine, and he seems to have intentionally focused the discussion away from specifically Catholic moral controversies.The book presupposes some familiarity with moral and political philosophy, e.g., Aristotle's _Ethics_ and modern consequentialist theories. Familiarity with Aquinas will reveal some of Finnis's influences but I doubt such familiarity is strictly necessary to understand what Finnis is saying. Certainly the book's arguments stand (or fall) on their own merits, without appeal the authority of Aquinas.

I'm very familiar with Dr. Stanley Malamed's Local Anesthesia handbook since I was a student in USC School of Dentistry where Dr. Malamed taught and trained me in Local Anesthesia. Time and again afetr practicing for 25 years I go back to this book for reference. The new edition is again a wonderful and comprehensive textbook that every dentist and dental student should have in their library. Dr. Malamed has not left anything unexplained clearly in the science of local anesthesia. Most of all the accompanying DVD ia a fantastic reference that will refine any clinician's skills.

When the school told me the book my dentist had given me was way too outdated for the course, I had to move fast and get something newer. I got in in just a few days. Way before the estimated delivery date which gave me extra study time. I chose the book and DVD combo to help me absorb it all quicker. I love, love it!!
