Charleton Griffin has a good voice and good diction and he reads with understanding. But he should be ashamed of this reading and he should never again work with the "director," who allowed him to produce this sing-song version that stresses every rhyme. If he cannot trust Chaucer (to make his rhyme come through), or listeners who are literate enough to care about Chaucer, he should specialize in mystery novels (taking care not to emphasize the clues). I might enjoy Mr. Griffin's reading of something in prose, but I could not bear to hear him read another line of poetry.
