This is an alluring book about a fraudster, Mark Anderson, who has a passion for photography and wine. It was his latter love that led to his downfall. When attention and pressure mounted on Sausalito Cellars, Anderson moved to a rented bay area in a much larger wine storage company called Wines central. Even then, clients fed by one story after another, queried him and many asked to inspect or have their wines delivered up. The police started an investigation and he was charged on 10 counts of embezzlement. There was only one way to destroy the evidence – Anderson set fire to Wines Central. The book is a fascinating mix of wine makers and wine lovers. Dinkelspiel even discovered her own family’s connection to the history of wine-making in America. She also relates the stories of famous vintners whose wines were destroyed in the fire by Anderson, people like Delia Viader of Viader Vineyards, and Ted Hall of Long Meadow Ranch. There is also a chapter on famous wine frauds including the interesting story of Rudy Kurniawan, the wine counterfeiter who sold fake wines so successfully, until he tried to sell a 1927 Domaine Ponsot. The problem was, there was no such wine and it was Laurence Ponsot of Domaine Ponsot who unravelled Kurniawan’s operations, leading to an FBI raid at Kuniarwan’s home. This book set off to answer the big question Dinkelspiel sought to answer, ‘What is the allure of wine?’ The answer, she found, and illustrated throughout the many connections in this book, was, ‘Wine brings people together’.

You will learn what you need to know about Endometriosis. Your current doctor may not even know as much as you'd know about the disease, after reading this book.It's written to general public. The language and the tone is very friendly.It can be a little depressing to read edge cases and if you're like me you'll find yourself reading tons about what the book is referring to. It wasn't a fun ride for me learning about the details in this book, and I couldn't stop myself thinking a lot about the condition. But somebody has to do it; if it's not your current doctor then it'll be you until finding a specialist.There are very good advice in the book. One of them is diet change. Being gluten free is almost a must with this condition. Inflammation from gluten sensitivity aggregates the side effects by possibly feeding the scar tissue internally. It's a hormonal problem but it builds up over the years. So does gluten sensitivity results. Dairy, is another thing to be stay away from.When it comes to surgery options you'll face most of the doctors offering laparoscopy with laser (heated devices). This part, my friends, is to me the most important part of the book. I would have no clue about questioning the surgery techniques. Why would I, right? Doctors would know the best. Hmm, read what it does to you when a heated device touched our organs and the endometrial scar tissue. If you can, watch the videos of Dr. Seçkin; in medical conferences he explains why cold scissors are used v.s. high energy devices (i.e. laser).Bottom line is, what I leaned from this book came with a timely manner. I didn't think I may need a surgery within a year but I'm now in a month away. If you can go visit Dr. Seçkin in his downtown NY office.Thanks for reading and all the best.

This is the best book I’ve read written by a medical professional about endometriosis, a disease which affects 10% of fertile women in this country. Like most experts in his field, he’s very confident in his approach and methods and he provides compelling case examples to demonstrate this. However, I would have appreciated knowing about those truly impossible cases, where endometriosis is systemic and therefore seems inoperable or too risky. Maybe they haven’t existed in his experience but I find that difficult to believe. I give Dr. Seckin credit for being brave enough to include a chapter about one client who had serious life-threatening complications following a surgery he performed. I just expect he’s had more than one such experience and I wonder about the claim that every case of endometriosis is operable if done by the right surgeon with the right expertise (ie: him).

I was diagnosed with advanced endometriosis two weeks ago. My doctor thought I may have adenomyosis until he did surgery and found the endometriosis. I had frozen pelvis, cervical stenosis, and an ovarian endometrioma. I've felt bad for years and was misdiagnosed with fibromyalgia, depression, and arthritis. Long story short - I only had gastro symptoms in my younger years and only started having cramps about 2 years ago (I'm 44). Never had problems with infertility. I had NO CLUE that I had this, nor did any doctor ever mention the word "endometriosis" to me. When I woke up from surgery and the doctor told me, I wasn't even sure what it was. That's when I found this book on Amazon. Definitely 5 stars. I want to give a copy to every woman I know and every gynecologist in existence! Can't believe the MDs don't even understand this disease. I felt better immediately after surgery. I was having trouble even walking before this. Thank God, I had been referred to a gynecological oncologist who is a superb surgeon and so he knew what he was doing. I didn't realize what a blessing it was to have him until I read in this book how most surgeons don't know how to properly deal with endometriosis, not even gynecologists! This book should be required reading for OB/GYN medical students. Have been blowing up Facebook with information about this ever since! Buy this book and give it to anyone who is having mysterious health problems that have to do with IBS/gastro problems, infertility, fibromyalgia, etc. I asked my doctor how long I've had this and he said probably years. And I had no clue!

I enjoyed this book, and read through it quickly in 2 sittings, but feel like it doesn't provide much information beyond what you can find online. I like that he explained the big tell-tale symptoms by looping in stories from patients, but I was hoping for some insight, or at least a quick blurb listing the other symptoms that you don't hear discussed as often. The only new information I got from this is the real difference between the difference surgical options to remove the endometriosis.I agree with other reviewers that there are parts where it feels like he's just promoting himself, and after a while it got a bit annoying. For the price it wasn't bad because I was able to relate to the stories, and he discussed the difference in surgical treatment options

This course and the Michel Thomas course take a similar approach to introducing french. Both use spaced repetition, in which they come back to words and concepts already introduced. Both are based around testing (eg. they ask continually "how would you say") and testing like this is shown to be much more effective than simply reading a word list or dialogue over and over. I did the Michel Thomas course and then this one; if doing it again I'd reverse the order. It is still worth getting both; hearing somewhat different versions of the same material helps reinforce it. This course (and Thomas) require concentration; it isn't something you can do while driving.I prefer this course to Michel Thomas because the correct response is given by a native French speaker, instead of Thomas who has an accent. In this course the question is posed, there is a pause, then the correct answer. In Thomas you are in a small class as the 3rd student. They often stumble a bit, and if I was in a live class I'd want the Thomas approach because he fixes it by going back to something they know and working forward. But their mistakes on tape may not be your mistakes. Furthermore your fingers get a workout with Thomas since you need to pause after every question, while this course has pauses built in (although in later CDs they seemed a bit too short).Another plus is this course gives all the verb tenses from the start. The Thomas course standard course only uses some of the verb tenses. And I liked the frequent role-playing ("you are at a market", "you are at a hotel") in which a sample interaction is played out, something you don't find in the Thomas course. One nit is that when Paul prompts for 1st/2nd/3rd person he almost always goes in the same order, so you don't get as much of a testing effect to strengthen your recall as you would if he used a random order.So can you get by in French after this course? Both this and Michel Thomas seem to imply that in just a few hours using their method you can accomplish what hundreds of classroom hours fail to do for most students. After this course you can form some sentences, have a small but useful vocabulary, and understand how to use some of the pronouns. It's a good start, but both Noble and Thomas play a trick to sidestep conjugation. They teach the full present-tense conjugation of "want" and "can" so that any other verb can be used in the infinitive form (eg. "can we X", "they want Y", where X and Y are verbs you don't know how to conjugate). That's great, it gets you talking, but native speakers are going to conjugate verbs in writing and speech and you simply won't recognize them. After using this course I started with Assimil French, which has simple dialogues that use grammar and verbs well covered in the Noble course. Yet I found I understood little from the early lessons the first time I heard them. I'm not criticizing these courses, actually I strongly endorse them, but I think the marketing oversells what you will learn.

This series is excellent. I wish that there was a part 2...So I a tried various methods - this one is excellent. There are three aspects of this method I will comment on1. Con - the one con I have is towards the end of the series - CD 9 and above he spend way too much time working on pronouns and complex sentences -- i understand why as it allows you to create more complex and elegant sentences but I would have been much happier just working thru more words and more common situations than spending 3 CDs working on "Je le lui donne" etc ...But I did enjoy it.. and its a good series -- I wish there were more.

This is the first book of Mr. Dugoni's that I've read and have to say I loved it. Lots of suspense keeping you glued to the pages. Very well written, great characters and complex plot. I just ordered 2 more of his books and look forward to reading them.

Mysteries are one of the most read genre's in the book world. There are many author's and many tales to choose from. I've never given five stars, but if any book deserves it, this one does. My sister's grave is everything we crave in a mystery. Tracy Crosswhite, a Seattle detective has been fighting demons for two decades. When her younger sister disappears 20 years ago following a shooting competition, it shatters the lives of a family and a small, tight knit community. Tracy's father James, a we'll respected man in the small town of Cedar Grove Washington devotes his whole being to finding out what happened to Sarah, Tracy's sister. Roy Calloway, the sherriff of Cedar Grove, and a good friend of James Crosswhite believe they know who murdered Sarah. Edmund House, a convicted rapist has allegedly confessed to raping and murdering Sarah. There's just one big problem... they've never found her body. Questionable evidence ends up getting Edmund House convicted of the crime. His confession was never recorded, and to Tracy, a Seattle detective who quit her career as a chemistry teacher in Cedar Grove to become a law enforcement officer following her sister's disappearence, the evidence just doesn't add up. Now, 20 years later, after a dam is removed, hunters find the skeletal remains of Sarah in a shallow grave where a lake once stood. This puts into motion a complete revisiting of the case, with Tracy determined to find out who killed her sister. The story weaved by Mr. Dugoni is an incredible tale of love, deception, and how to reconcile both. I couldn't put this book down after the first chapter. As soon as you think you've figured out what's happened, you realize you haven't. The characters are real, the emotions raw. You'll find yourself convinced of one's wrongdoing only to question it later. This book is so we'll written, so engrossing that you almost don't want it to end. If you read only one murder mystery this year...make it this one. You won't be disappointed.

I'm certainly not sorry I read the book - it's interesting, fast-paced, and entertaining. I love crime drama and this definitely read like an episode of csi or law & order. I also appreciated that the author manages to portray the heinous crime without being unreasonably graphic or vulgar. My biggest issue with the story is just how unbelievable it is. I realize Tracy's point is to uncover the egregious mishandling of the case, but it really pushes the level of possibility. The ending is also pretty far-fetched, but I understand it's fiction. My problem with the ending is how fast and explosive it is compared to the overall pacing of the book.Also, the author needs to work on names and naming conventions. There are so many minor characters and when they all have names like Finlay, Finn, and Kins, it's harder to tell them apart. Also, the author flips back and forth between calling a character by their first name and last name with no apparent pattern or reasoning. It makes it particularly difficult when a character is named something like "Kelly Rosa", she comes up in about 3 scenes, and half the time she's called Kelly and half the time Rosa. I thought they were two different people.As I said, I'm not sorry I read the book and would recommend it to someone who was looking for a easy crime read. I'd also consider another book by this author, but agree with other reviewers that he needs to consider a different editor.

I love a series. Sometimes I find a character I like and buy all the other books to see how the character develops. Almost always the series starts with a mystery and, in a few books, it becomes personal. That's usually where the distraction begins. This one started with a personal issue. Fortunately, it did not detract from the story which we want to be "how the mystery is solved". Anyway, Crosswhite is a fully formed character at this point and likeable in her own way. She is the hero but subject to all the human conditions that make us relatable. I'm looking forward to seeing how she acts in the rest of the books.I read reviews before buying these. There were some issues with the forward/backward timelines and some who thought that these "flashbacks" were a distraction and created confusion. Sometimes that is true, but I don't know if the story could be told in any different manner. And Dugoni is certainly a talented storyteller. If you are considering this book, it's a pretty good read.

I read, on average, 2-3 books a month. I have to say, this is the best book I have read in several years. The flashbacks along with current story lines makes the characters more complete. The story line involving the murder of Tracys' sister and the subsequent years of trying to determine the truth when an innocent man is sentenced for the crime and sent to prison. The twist and turns throughout the story made it move fast and kept me glued to the book to see who actually did it. When the conclusion arrived, I was floored by the reveal. I did not anticipate the ending. It wrapped everything up completely. It is a completely enthralling book that will grab and deep your attention for every page!!!

I am returning this item because:-Proper names are not spelled in standard English forms (the publisher of this map is in Germany)-It is difficult to read the map - it is a topographic map, which is unnecessary and makes it difficult to find and read the cities, notes etc. printed in red.Even if one is familiar with the region it is difficult to find things on this map!

A great overview of the regionI like this map because the colors are subtle and the shading shows how very mountainous the region actually is. It helps to understand how the political boundaries came to exist. I also like that the parks, museums, and other things to see are marked directly on the map, so I don't have to hunt for anything in an index.

I used this when I took a tour along the ancient Silk Road. It showed all the spots we visited in Uzbekistan and Krybyzstan.

Although this book was last published almost a decade ago (2008), the information is outstanding, especially for the beginner or novice rider. In fact, the information, tips, and suggestions are so good, even experienced riders will pick up a thing or two. Highly recommended as a first look into the exciting world of motorcycling!

This book was a good effort but frankly was way too basic for all but the most novice of riders. There was very little useful information in the book and I am disgusted that I spent nearly $14 for info that I could readily find on Youtube or a host of other places. Sorry - this one is a waste of money.

If you already know how to ride great it has info for you too! To unlearn mistakes someone else told you cause they were wrong on what someone else told them. I'm a truck driver and hhave to driver for everyone else to. People in cars pay no attention theese days! So when you ride your scoot you should be more alert than a truck driver. At any given second you can loose your life. I recomend this book. Try some of the skills they show you and you will be a safer and bettter rider! If you feel this book isn't for you cause your cool, wait untill you taste asphalt

Want what I was hoping for. I love for dummies books. But this was mostly common sense and vague instructions on how to do repairs. I donot recommend. Just take a safety course and you'll be set.

This book is a complete waste of paper. Take your state DMV book and add a sales guide, that's what this is.

I bought this as a gift for a friend who is getting into motorcycles. He said that the book was pretty basic, but good for a beginner. Which makes sense because the book is motorcycling for dummies and the for dummies series is basically just a for beginners series. Anyway, if you want something more technical this isn't it, but for the basics this is good enough.

I took a motorcycle safety class and the instructor recommended this book. I have read other books for dummies and thought they were complete waste of time, I am very skeptical about a book for dummies. I found this book very informative and educational without being presumptuous or condescending to a non motorcycle person. I have a scooter now but I want a motorcycle!
